Dr. Yifei Sun was Professor of urban and regional economic development and innovation, California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Dr. Yifei Sun has worked as the principal investigator for two projects supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation. One project examined foreign R&D in China while the other analyzed the technological innovation in China’s information communication technology industries. He has published more than thirty articles in leading international journals such as Journal of Economic Geography, Technovation, Regional Studies, Environment and Planning A, and International Journal of Technology Management. Dr. Yifei Sun has co-edited five special issues on China’s innovation in reputable international journals such as International Journal of Technology Management, China Review, Environment and Planning A, Asian Pacific Business Review and GeoJournal. He also co-edited one of the first books on foreign R&D in China, entitled “Global R&D in China” (Routledge, 2008). Dr. Yifei Sun was elected as the vice-chair and Chair for the Chinese Geography Group at the Association of American Geography a couple of years ago He has become an authority on economics, urban and regional economic development, and innovation, with a global network of academics, government officials and businesses communities built upon his thirty years career in related topics.
Dr. Sun is the proposer of the new framework, including agency, actors, and actions (3As), which is built upon the progress of evolutionary economics (EG), which has great potential for applications in research on social, political, economic and environmental issues at various scales from individual, organization, urban/regional, national and international scales at various political and cultural contexts for different historical periods. His actor-centered approach is in sharp contrasts with the traditional structure-focused approaches. A large group of academics, governmental agencies and officials, and business people. Many scholars have shown strong interest in this new framework and more than 50 scholars in related topics have been contact with Dr. Sun for potential collaborative projects.
Dr. Yifu Justin Lin, the former Vice President and Chief Economist of World Bank has shown strong interest in this new 3A framework and think it has a great potential to be applied in topics from economics, social, and political, and environmental issues at different geographical scales. More than 50 scholars are working with him to explore the possibility of further collaborative conceptual and empirical research.
He is the founder and President of the newly created non-profit organization International Institute for Innovation and Development (I3D) with the aim to make Los Angeles a Global Innovation Center.
Gary Huang was senior consultant with 10+ years consulting and managing experience in Deutsch Telecom Consulting and Accenture Consulting, lead the team serving multinational clients from Telecommunication & High-tech, Consuming Products and Channel industries. He has deep understanding and insights to the common and difference aspects of Sino-US industries and the cooperation between enterprises of both sides. In the mobile internet rush, he creates and get involved in a serial of startups in Smart Retail area, which utilizing “Internet plus” to reform and upgrade the retail channels.
Gary graduated from Computer Engineering of Tsinghua University. He became PMP project management professional after 10 years technical and management work. He participated and got MBA degree in the joint MBA program of Tsinghua Economic and Management School and MIT Sloan School. In the consulting firms, he had done quite some methodology and theory R&D work. With the experience working close with industry clients, and the lessons from running startups, he has the ability to fully understand the target industry and key enterprises in a short time, and form the analysis model, find the bottleneck of development, grasp the key opportunities.
Now Gary is looking deeply into the Hemp Industry of both China and US, following closely to the ecosystem of industry and the regulation policy，law issues. His social media account is well known among the Chinese speaking entrepreneurs and investors of hemp industry, and has connected many enterprises and experts in different value chain nodes of both China and US. Gary has also participated in the big data, AI development platform, and using these resource to help improve the applications and practices in medical，healthcare, and the retail area.
In the I3d founded by Dr. Yifei Sun, start form Hemp industry, Gary will establish the sub forum of “Medical and Healthcare topic”, get the resource and experts from both China and US and improve their communication. SoCal has several areas are Medical and Healthcare heavy such as Santa Monica, Irvine and San Diego. The sub forum will also introduce big data and AI resources to help those medical and healthcare companies to accelerate their innovation, marketing and sales, Sub forum will also establish the medical and healthcare industry research & application model based on Dr. Sun’s 3A methodology framework, to study the practices of Chinese and US industry clusters. And hold the dialogues, communications and also suggestions to enterprises and investors, bridge the sino-us cooperation, business as well as the investment activities, which accelerate the development of SoCal medical and healthcare.
Dr. Yongwei Sheng is a scientist in the field of Geospatial Information Systems and Technologies (GIST) with research interests in remote sensing, photogrammetry, geographic information systems (GIS), and their applications in large-area environmental monitoring and assessment. Remote sensing and photogrammetry are valuable data collection and monitoring tools, especially in regional- and global-scale studies when field data collection is difficult and/or expensive, while GIS is a powerful tool for spatial data analysis and integration of various dimensions of our world. His career goal is to contribute to the development of scientific, theoretical and methodological aspects of GIST. His research interests include geographic information acquisition, uncertainty in geographic information, 3-D information technologies for GIScience. He has been leading and involved in many research projects using GIST as a tool to address natural resources and environmental issues. His current research objectives include monitoring lake dynamics in the context of global change, especially in the regions sensitive to climate change such as the Tibetan Plateau and the pan-Arctic, through several ongoing NSF, NASA, and USGS funded projects.
Ms Yan Zhang got her EMBA from Peking University ，and is an experienced investor with rich experience in the field of angel , VC and PE investments. Since 2002, she has worked in different investment corporations including ZHONGRUI Investment Corp. Ltd. and Shanglian Investment Corp. Ltd. She was involved in the whole process of helping XINYUN Properties and Liaoning High-Tech Corp. ltd to get listed i the US stock markets, with the total investment of $393 million. She is an experienced investor and serves as the investment advisor to I3D.
